Wearing the yellow jersey of the Parisian team Académia, "La Futbolista Rubia" has neither the defiant gaze of "La Futbolista Morena", nor the over-developed musculature of "Las Futbolistas".
On the contrary, this painting gives a softer image of female footballers.
It is highly likely that with this painting, Zárraga wanted to show that football did not take away the players' femininity, at a time when women's sport was viewed very negatively by certain male elites.
