T-shirt - Stag at Sharkey's, George Bellows - White
Description of the pattern
"Stag at Sharkey's", painted by George Bellows in 1909.
The scene painted by American artist George Bellows depicts two boxers in the midst of a boxing match and the referee at the center, while the audience watches around the ring.
The scene takes place in New York, in a sports club called "Sharkey's," known for its boxing matches where betting was commonplace. The two featured boxers are not professionals but amateurs, nicknamed "stags," hence the original title of the work.
Bellows' artistic style is part of the tradition of American Realism, with a strong influence of Expressionism, particularly in the graphic depiction of the face of the boxer on the left, which evokes the speed and brutality of the fight.
This oil on canvas is now exhibited at the Cleveland Museum of Art in the United States.
