Wearing the yellow jersey of the Parisian team Academia, "The Blonde Footballer" has neither the defiant gaze of "The Brunette Footballer" nor the overdeveloped musculature of "Las Futbolistas".
On the contrary, this painting presents a softer image of female footballers.
It is highly likely that with this painting, Zárraga wanted to demonstrate that football did not diminish the femininity of female players, at a time when women's sports were viewed very negatively by certain male elites.
