"Equestrian Girl with a Pearl Earring" revisits Girl with a Pearl Earring (c. 1665), the masterpiece by Johannes Vermeer often nicknamed "the Mona Lisa of the North".

Riding helmet on her head and dressed for competition, Vermeer's girl now poses beside her horse. We only glimpse him in part, but his eye, caught in profile, extends the rider's gaze: an invisible line connects their eyes and speaks of the bond that unites horse riding with those who practise it. The soft light of the Delft painter and, of course, the pearl are still there.
