Wearing the yellow jersey of the Parisian team Académia, "The Blonde Footballer" has neither the defiant gaze of "The Brunette Footballer", nor the over-developed musculature of "Las Futbolistas".
On the contrary, this painting gives a softer image of female footballers.
It is highly probable that with this painting, Zárraga wanted to demonstrate that football did not strip players of their femininity, at a time when women's sports were viewed very negatively by certain male elites.
